The Ultimate Seek BaIi tour – The best way to explore the bucket list destination of Bali in 17 days

Overview

Everyone knows Bali is one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. We have all dreamed of exploring the white sand beaches, sipping cocktails in the sun and watching picture perfect sunsets. While Bali definitely offers the above, the surrounding islands all have their own charms that certainly cannot be missed. With our carefully curated itinerary you can experience the very best of what Indonesia has to offer. Explore Nusa Penida, Gili T, Komodo Island, Labuan Bajo, Seminyak, Uluwatu, Lovina, and Ubud on this 16 night epic adventure. Bali is undoubtedly one of our favourite countries to visit in South East Asia. Olivia has lived in Bali for 3 months and Amie and Shareen have both been twice (their last trip spending a month there putting together this bucket list itinerary). Indonesia boasts breathtaking scenery, rich culture, manta rays, picturesque beaches, rice fields, ancient Hindu temples and a whole other world away from home. If you want to explore your dream destination while surrounded by other like minded women, then this is the itinerary for you!

Our Women Only Bali Tour Itinerary

Day 1 – Meet your fellow Seek adventurers and start making new friends

You will arrive into Bali International Airport advising us of your arrival time. We will provide full information of how to get to the port to catch the ferry to Nusa Penida. You will be collected from Nusa Penida port and taken to your first nights accommodation. Once your fellow group has all arrived, we will get to know each other over dinner and perhaps a drink or two.

Day 2 – Get those cameras ready to visit the best beaches of Nusa Penida

We will wake up early to beat the crowds to visit some world famous beaches on this full day excursion. The island houses the most iconic views of Bali’s landscapes, amazing cliffs and stunning beaches. We will have a guided tour around one of the most beautiful islands in Indonesia starting off with Kelingking beach. This is the most impressive, as well as famous, spot on the island. I’m sure you’ll recognise it from your favourite travel influencer’s Instagram. After snapping away to get those once in a lifetime photos, we will head to Broken Beach. This carved-in-limestone hole in the landscape resulted in one of the most marvelous beaches in the world. Following Broken Beach we will head to a famous treehouse for you to get an incredible photo before our final stop, Diamond Beach. This truly was a unique experience for us as health and safety goes out the window. For those that are less inclined to scale the side of a cliff, no problem the views are still amazing from the top. For the more adventurous you literally climb down with a piece of rope… and yes its the same way back up! However if Shareen can do it at 51, I am sure you will all be able to do it (although she did have a local pushing her bum to help her up at one point). The stairs are in fact called the Stairway to Heaven as the beach is truly heaven on earth. Those of you that wish to have a photo halfway down on a swing, there is a company offering this at an extra charge.

After this full packed day of amazing scenery, we will probably be slightly jetlagged therefore the evening is yours to enjoy as you please.

Day 3 – Your first of many snorkeling trips, today we snorkel with manta rays

Nusa Penida is not only spectacular above the water line! Jaw dropping sights are waiting to be discovered within the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean surrounding this magical island. Words can’t describe the beauty beneath…you’ll have to experience it for yourself!  Snorkeling gives you the opportunity to enjoy this unbelievable underwater universe.

Snorkeling does not require you to have special skills, a certification or be weighed down with heavy equipment. Feel at one with nature and admire the incredible diversity of Penida’s ocean flora and fauna. If you are not a strong swimmer, don’t worry as life vests are provided.

Let us take you on a wondrous adventure into this watery world; coral reefs as far as the eye can see, teeming with life of unimaginable forms! An indescribable abundance of tropical reef fish, as well as the biggest ray of all, the magnificent, intelligent and curious gentle giant, the Manta Ray.

These are the most gentle creatures who wouldn’t hurt a fly, since they only eat plankton! This beautiful creature never stops swimming from the moment it’s born until the moment it dies. Obviously we cannot guarantee to spot this magnificent fish however Shareen has been lucky enough to have swam with them both times in Bali. Our skipper assures us he will do everything possible to take us to the best spots to swim with the Mantas.

The day will be finished off with a delicious meal at a well known beach club sharing the excitement of (hopefully) swimming with the beautiful mantas.

Day 4 – Beautiful sunsets and cocktails in Gili T

Today it is time to head to the largest, liveliest and most developed of the three Gili Islands, Gili Trawangan (fondly known as Gili T). The definition of paradise, this small island is surrounded by shimmering turquoise waters and fringed by white-sand beaches and coconut palms. Divers and snorkelers will delight in visiting what’s known as the sea turtle capital of the world. There are no cars, so you’ll explore on foot, by bicycle, or in a horse-drawn cart (although we personally do not use or endorse the horse-drawn carts). Although Gili T is known for its bustling main strip, you can easily find a more chilled-out atmosphere if you head to the middle of the island.

We will check into our hostel before grabbing a snorkel and heading to snorkel with the turtles. While we always travel with our goggles, they can be rented easily on the beach. In the evening we will hire bicycles and cycle to watch a spectacular sunset (weather permitting) whilst indulging in pizza and optional cocktails. A perfect day!

Day 5 – Snorkeling trip to the famous underwater statues

In the morning there will be another snorkeling trip to see the famous statues just off of Gili Meno. We have done this trip several times and know we have to leave super early to avoid what we call ‘snorkel soup’… The afternoon will be yours at leisure; whether you are energetic to walk around the island, hike up the only hill, simply relax on the beach or enjoy a flower bath and massage, there are many different options.

Day 6 – Embark on our 3 night sailing trip

We will catch the early morning local ferry to Lombok to embark on what we believe is the highlight of this trip.

We will spend 3 nights sailing from Lombok to Labuan Bajo to see the komodo dragons (before they become extinct) and to snorkel with whale sharks! Don’t let the word sharks scare you, they are actually a fish, filter feeders and harmless. This was Amie’s highlight of her year last year, waking up at 5am to snorkel amongst about 10 whale sharks. Again, the same as the mantas, these are fish in the ocean and it’s not guaranteed to see them. If you are expecting luxury, this is not for you. If you want fun, adventure, meeting other nationals from around the world of different ages and sleeping in very basic conditions, this is the perfect trip. Please note, this is not an exclusive boat and therefore there will likely be males onboard.

You will be living life like a fisherman as their website says! On their adventure cruiser, you experience the authentic way of traveling like a local. You will be sleeping on deck breathing the sea breeze under the night sky (look at our photos to ensure you are comfortable with this). We look forward to enjoying freshly caught fish directly grilled in the boat galley, washed down with a bintang. All alcohol and soft drinks can be pre-ordered to take onboard, at your own cost.

Day 7 – Today is the day we hopefully snorkel with Whale Sharks

Hopefully we are woken at 5am to the shouts of ‘whale sharks, whale sharks’ for you to frantically grab your goggles to swim with these incredible fish, a truly once in a lifetime experience. The rest of the day will be spent sunbathing, playing cards and socialising with the other guests on the boat, or simply take yourself off to a quiet spot to indulge in your book.

Day 8 – Indulge with a bintang on one of the few pink beaches in the world

Today we will spend a few hours on one of the only pink beaches in the world. Again, you can relax , snorkel and socialise with your new friends

In the afternoon we will go to Komodo island where we have a few hours walking around looking at these spectacular creatures (from afar, certainly no petting allowed). It is a 5km slow walk around the island and plenty of photo opportunities (again please note, these are not caged animals and it is not guaranteed to see them).

We end the day hiking up a mountain to see a spectacular view. Everyone goes at their own pace and it’s one way up and one way down. The height up the mountain and the pace will be dependent on each individual’s fitness levels.

Day 9 – Our sailing trip ends with a much needed shower in Flores

We dock mid morning at Flores where the first thing everyone does is grab a much needed shower (yep, no showers onboard except a DIY shower of bucket and water). Spend the afternoon relaxing at the pool or taking a wander to the local fish market before enjoying a hearty optional group dinner or having an early night in a proper bed.

Day 10 – Relax in Seminyak

We board a morning flight back to Bali to spend 2 nights in Seminyak. As we have been non-stop since arriving, these 2 days are simply time to relax, catch up on your favourite novel or simply lie on the beach and perhaps even have a massage or two. Those that wish to experience a Canggu beachclub, we can recommend several although they do not come cheap.

Day 11 – Day at leisure

At your leisure. Again, we can give you many different recommendations and we are sure there will be others in the group who want to experience the same things as you.

Day 12 – We cant head to Bali without a beach club, today we head to Uluwatu

We leave behind our relaxing two nights and head to Uluwatu, the surfing capital of Bali. Uluwatu is known for its white sand beaches, epic surfing waves, long nights with cocktails in hand and a famous temple.

We will check into our accommodation for 2 nights and head straight to the beach (weather permitting). Those of you that wish to try surfing, there are plenty of surf schools offering this or simply frolick in the biggest waves we have seen outside of South Africa.

Late afternoon we will head to Single Fin, which started from humble beginnings in 2008 and quickly moved to the top of Bali’s bucket list. Set on the epic cliffs and overlooking the infamous Uluwatu surf break discovered back in the 70’s,  the beach bar is the go to bar to enjoy an icy cold Bintang after an afternoon on the beach while watching the sun setting in the Indian Ocean.

Day 13 – Experience the spectacular scenery of the sun setting over Uluwatu temple

Morning at leisure before experiencing one of the most famous temples, Uluwatu temple, in the afternoon. This Temple sits on a steep cliff 70 metres above sea level overlooking the Indian Ocean. It’s also where you can catch an epic sunset.

Beware of the monkeys here, they are seriously something else and are the worst behaved monkeys we have seen in all of Southeast Asia. Make sure you do not wear sunglasses or jewelry. As the sun sets, the kecak fire dance at Uluwatu Temple is a must-see of all the Uluwatu activities. Watching the kecak dance in Uluwatu is the #1 place in all of Bali to see it, at the amphitheater at Uluwatu Temple because you get to see an incredible sunset behind the performers.

Day 14 – Get those frocks and smiles ready for our Bali swing photos over rice fields

We leave behind the beaches of Uluwatu for a long journey to Lovina. Very few people experience this whilst traveling Indonesia however we believe it is worth the 5 hour journey. After checking in, we spend the late afternoon and evening relaxing for our 6am start. We will aim to stop off at a swing as one of the must have photos in Bali, a photo on a swing overlooking a rice field.

Day 15 – Our final snorkeling trip – snorkeling with dolphins in the ocean

Another highlight of this trip, swimming with dolphins in the ocean. This is not a Florida type swimming with dolphins in captivity! This is literally holding onto a pole on a fishing boat with your goggles on watching the dolphins frolick beneath you, in the ocean. Once we got the hang of hanging on (no pun intended), it truly was one of the best days of our lives. Again, as with our other snorkeling trips, dolphins are not guaranteed. On our trip we sailed for 90 minutes praying and even attempting a dolphin call, all fingers crossed until we saw our first school. Thereafter, we literally had dolphins jumping within 2 metres of us and swimming right below us.

After a hearty breakfast, we head to our final destination, Ubud.

After checking in we head to the world famous Monkey forest. The monkeys are divided into four social groups, each with its own territory and hierarchy. They are fed sweet potatoes, fruits, and vegetables by the staff and the monkeys roam around freely. The forest is a must-see attraction for anyone visiting Ubud.

As we have another early morning (sorry), the evening is yours to enjoy at leisure.

Day 16 – Early start for sun rise trek up Mount Batur

We leave at 2am for the Mount Batur sunrise trek – a rewarding and magical way to start the day. Plus, sunrises in Bali don’t get better than this!

Mt Batur (known in Indonesia as Gunung Batur) is an active volcano, and its peak is at 1717 metres. Due to high daytime temperatures we set off early in the morning, when you’ll enjoy the added bonus of catching sunrise from the top. We start trekking at 4am with the aim to reach the top by 6am. When you reach the summit of Mount Batur volcano there’s a strange adrenaline that kicks in. You see THAT view and you just know it was all worth it. You feel proud and it’s so rewarding although hiking up you might be cursing us.

It’s not even 6am and look how much you’ve achieved! You don’t want to sit down. You don’t want to go to sleep. You want to hug everyone at the top. You want to dance around like a loony! We will toast marshmallows at the top and boil eggs in the steam from the volcano – sprinkled with the sweet flavour of victory!

As a treat, we will reward ourselves with a soak at Toya Devasya hot springs after our descent. Located right on the lake, it is a spectacular spot to reflect on your adventurous morning and an epic holiday.

Day 17 – Time to leave our new found friends

Time to say goodbye. You would have had an amazing time in one of the most beautiful regions of the world so the memories and friendships will last a lifetime. While it’s not guaranteed, you may meet someone who has a similar plan to you and you can continue your travels together. We can also help further in your onward journey, or you will depart for the airport where your journey ends. If your flight departs in the morning, we can assist in organising an airport hotel.

Frequently asked questions

FAQ

Where does the adventure start and finish ?

You will fly into Bali Ngurah Rai International airport where your return transfer will end aswell.

Which currency must I take ?

IDR

We recommend taking a Monzo card, or a similar alternative.

Do I require a visa ?

Visas are obtained on arrival at the airport for approximately £30 depending on exchange rate.

Is my money protected ?

Yes.

Can I bring a friend ?

Of course! If you book separately, just let us know you want to share a room. Equally, our adventures are designed as solo trips, so the majority of our travellers will not know each other at the beginning, however we know true friendships will be formed by the end.

What kind of accommodation is included ?

Our accommodation varies throughout the destinations however they have all been specially chosen by us to ensure you have a comfortable sleep. This is not a luxury hotel holiday, we have chosen comfortable hotels/hostels to keep your costs as low as possible.

The boat tour has basic facilities however everyone who has done this trip has described it as the best of their lives. You soon forget about the yoga mats you are sleeping on and remember the amazing sunrises at 5am, not forgetting those whale sharks and komodo dragons!

How fit do I need to be ?

The only slightly difficult excursion is the hike up Mount Batur. However, if you are struggling, you can hop on the back of a motorcycle, at your own expense.

Who will I share a room with ?

You will more than likely be sharing a room with one or more other Seek adventurers as our accommodation is a mixture of twin, triple or multi-share.  The beds will be a mixture of single and double beds and in our experience women are normally happy sharing a double bed. This is so that not only can we keep the cost down for you, but also to provide you with the opportunity of building strong friendships with people that you would not usually cross paths with in your everyday life.

I don’t know anyone else on the group travelling and I am a shy person

We all understand that feeling of being out of your comfort zone and meeting new people for the first time, but don’t forget that everyone you meet on the other side will be in the same position as you. We will add all of our travellers for one trip into a Whatsapp group for you to all ask each other questions and get to know each other before setting off. You will most certainly meet friends for life on your trip because you will all have at least one thing in common… You’re stepping outside your comfort zones and getting out there to see the world!

If we still haven’t answered your question, please fill in the question here (contact us form) or speak to us on the chat button now

Come and join us for a spectacular break on the Gower in West Wales. Have you always yearned to stay in a bell tent with spectacular scenery to wake up to but can’t afford to stay in a tent on your own? Or equally, you don’t want to experience a once in a lifetime adventure on your own? If so, we have the perfect UK holiday for you to enjoy. This trip combines breathtaking views, endless sandy beaches, spectacular walks, mouthwatering cuisine, all whilst sharing the experience with fellow like minded female travellers. The Gower Peninsular is on our doorstep and we have created an amazing adventure for you to share in the spectacular scenery that we have the pleasure of exploring whenever we can. The Gower is one of the UK’s best gems. It is home to beaches that are frequently voted as the best in Europe, with Rhosilli bay winning Wales’ Best Beach 2017, UK’s Top 10 Beaches (Trip Advisor Traveller’s Choice Awards), and has even made it into the running of Top 10 beaches in the world! Rhosilli Bay is referred to as ‘the supermodel of British Beaches’ and has won accolades such as the ‘UK’s Best Picnic Spot’. It’s a haven for wildlife too with many different breeds of bird nesting in the cliffs – so don’t forget your binoculars. This breathtaking beach alone will make your whole trip worth your visit. The Gower Peninsula was awarded the UKs first ever award of Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The area was given the prestigious title back in 1956 and has not changed much since. It received the distinguished award due to its miles of glittering coastline, stunning beaches, sandy bays and fascinating cave formations. Views from high points in the peninsula are truly amazing, which is what makes the area such a great location for memorable holidays in Wales.  Worms Head, which is an attraction on one of our days, is not only a landmark feature and hugely popular Welsh tourist attraction but it’s also a mile-long stretch believed to be one of the most breath-taking and most photographed sunsets across the globe. So much so, it has been voted the 7th best sunset in the world.
